Detox

Everyone should detox at least once a year.  The most common symptoms of toxic buildup within the body are mental dullness, aching-stiff joints, gas and bloat, high acidity, digestive problems with the stomach and colon, acid reflux and fatigue. Therefore, it is imperative to naturally detox to rid yourself of the deleterious effects of impurities and toxins.

First, lighten up your toxin load. Eliminate alcohol, coffee, cigarettes, refined sugars and saturated fats, all of which act as toxins in the body and are obstacles to your healing process. Also, minimize use of chemical based household cleaners and toxic personal care products. 

Secondly, eliminate as much stress as you can from your life.  Stress triggers your body to release stress hormones which creates toxins.

Thirdly, a short detoxifying program is generally safe.  Nursing mothers, children, and patients with chronic degenerative diseases, cancer or tuberculosis should not detox. Consult your health care practitioner if you have questions about whether detoxing is right for you.

A popular detox recommended by doctors is the 4 day detox.  The first day, eat dark, leafy greens with fresh lemon juice.  Brown rice and chick peaas can be included in your meals.  The second day add berries and fruit.  The third day add yogurt and cabbage.  The forth day add broccoli, cauliflower and carrots.  After the 4 day detox, you will appreciate the goodness of vegetables and fruits and will continue to eat more healthily. 

Even the healthiest of people will benefit from a juice fast, or juice feast, as some refer to it. The idea behind it is that by giving the body no solid food to have to digest, it can use that saved digestion energy to fix any damage or problems that may exist within. Even if you are on the raw food diet, your body is still working for many hours of the day. If you tend to eat late, then you are allowing your body even less rest. A juice fast feeds your body with nutrients and energy, without asking it to have to work to get that energy. The idea need not be intimidating, as it is not necessary to do really long juice fasts. Here are two easy juice fasts to attempt.

The easiest fast to try out and possibly work into your life on a permanent basis is a one day fast. Keep in mind that your sleeping time can count as part of your 'one day'. So, you don't necessarily have to start the fast at breakfast and go until breakfast the following day. You can eat lightly throughout the day, and then at dinner time have just a juice, continuing to drink only juice until dinner time the next day. This method can be the easiest way to start, as you don't even feel like you're going without food. Once you do the one day fast, you can wait a few weeks and then try a longer fast. Alternatively, you will really feel great benefits by doing a one day fast every week or two weeks.

You can also try a slightly longer fast, of three days, which is good for those who have tried the one day fast and would like to extend it for a little bit longer. It's not a very challenging amount of time, but it is enough time to really give your body a good break from solid food. A one day fast is not really enough time to draw toxins out of your body, but with a three day fast, the process of detoxification will begin. This means that you may actually feel bad during those three days, as your body expels toxins into the blood stream.

It's very important that you have bowel movements at least once a day, to ensure that your body is actually getting rid of those toxins properly. It will also pay to do some skin brushing whilst on the juice fast, to ensure that your lymph system is assisting in the expulsion of toxins.

Once you've successfully completed a three day fast, you can extend your next fast for as long as you feel comfortable. A fast of any length of time will do your body good, so long as you don't push yourself to exhaustion and as you consume enough energy and nutrients.

A Great Detox Beverage

3 ounces of water

4 ounces Organic Apple Juice

1 teaspoon of Zeolite

1 table spoon of Psyllium

Mix and drink immediately.  Drink plenty of water during the day while drinking this beverage.  Drink it 6 times per day.  Match each glass of the detox beverage with at least 1 glass of water to keep the psyllium moving through the digestive system.  Natural fresh squeezed juices can be include in the day's fast.

Detox Ingredients

The human body is made up primarily of water. In fact, approximately 75 percent of your body is water and 25 percent is solid matter. Water is essential for absorbing nutrients, eliminating waste, cellular activity and all organ functions.

Every cell in our body excretes waste material, which becomes toxic and poisonous to our bodies if it is allowed to build up faster than it can be eliminated or filtered out of the body.

There are chelation agents, such as EDTA, which can be administered intravenously or orally.

EDTA chelation agents are synthetically produced chemicals. They have not shown the ability to withdraw a wide spectrum of heavy metal toxins. It seems that sometimes EDTA will disperse the heavy metals into other tissues and organs instead of facilitating complete removal.
